Tree planting - Waurn Ponds
In conjunction with National Enviroweek 2014, Ms Joanne Board’s
Yr11 Environmental Science students, together with over 20 Sustainability
Leaders, joined members of the “Friends of Waurn Ponds Creek” Community Group to
assist with the establishment of a nature corridor
along the creek on August 26. The students rose to the “Cool Australia Week” Challenge by planting 600
native species along the Waurn Ponds Creek embankment in 90 minutes.
On the 26th of July, an organisation known as the Friends of Waurn Ponds Creek had a day where about 1500-2000 trees and grasses were planted. About 45-50 people helped in the planting in the space of 2 and a half hours. There were 3 Joey’s boys there, two Year 11 students and one Year 7 Sustainability Leader. It was a fun day and is great to get involved in. Angus Wiese 7J |
