Our CUT THE WRAP initiative was introduced by sustainability leaders, affectionately known as the "Sustainaswaggers", in a bid to raise student awareness of the contribution of packaging to landfill. On average, soft plastic wrapping were contributing to between 35% to 40% of waste produced.
In its first year, two CUT THE WRAP days were typically conducted each term. In a move to evoke cultural change, at the commencement of term two 2015, CUT THE WRAP days were introduced as a weekly activity, for all Years 7, 8 & 9 students. In addition two “unannounced” CUT THE WRAP were also implemented per term. Rewards for classes with 100% participation range from Pizza or Hot Chip lunches, to canteen vouchers. |
